Heading into their Week 15 matchup against the New York Giants at home, the Atlanta Falcons hadn't gotten much respect despite their 11-2 record. After all, the Falcons have gone to the playoffs three times under head coach Mike Smith and their record in the playoffs is 0-3, including a 24-2 beat down at home at the hands of the Giants in the playoffs last season.
NFL playoff picture: Now can the Falcons get some respect?
Even though the Falcons came into their Week 15 matchup against the Giants with the best record in the NFC, they hasn’t gotten a ton of respect. How about now?

Well the Falcons have apparently had enough with the lack of respect and the Giants because the beat down that they unleashed on Sunday on Eli Manning and the Giants was nothing short of epic.
The Falcons began the game by picking off Manning’s second pass attempt and scoring a touchdown a few plays later and the ended the game by keeping the Giants completely off the scoreboard. The final score was a 34-0 shutout, which shows that the Falcons can not only play with the better teams in the conference, but that they can beat the tar out of them.
Now, the big question is whether or not the Falcons can reproduce this outcome in the post season when it’s win or go home. If there’s a year for them to do it, it’s this year as they’ll have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
