49ers vs. Patriots 2012: San Francisco fans can’t complain with win

Despite blowing a 28-point lead and allowing the New England Patriots back into the game, the San Francisco 49ers fans should be happy with the road win.

Winning on the road, let alone at Gillette Stadium in December, isn't easy and San Francisco 49ers fans can't complain with the win over the New England Patriots on Sunday night.

It wasn’t necessarily a dominating performance but the 49ers have won a number of ugly games this season and the 41-34 victory was no different. San Francisco took a 17-3 lead into halftime and then extended it immediately to 31-3 in the first few minutes of the third quarter before allowing the Patriots back into the game.

After the defense stymied Tom Brady in the first half, the New England quarterback responded by orchestrating 28-straight points to tie the game. Against the Patriots' dynamic offense though, San Francisco knew winning wouldn't be as easy as it seemed early in the contest. From Niners Nation:

It was a crazy, up-and-down game, but at the end of the day, they kept up with one of the best offenses in the league, and who can complain about that?

Despite having issues with the snap, Colin Kaepernick made big plays in the passing game to keep New England at bay. The 49ers signal-caller tossed four touchdowns, including the go-ahead score on a connection with Michael Crabtree midway through the fourth quarter.

The win is significant for the 49ers in that gives them some cushion in the NFC West standings with the red hot Seattle Seahawks on their heels.
