Jim Harbaugh says Colin Kaepernick will remain 49ers starter

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will start next week against the Miami Dolphins.

US PRESSWIRE

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh reaffirmed his commitment to Colin Kaepernick following the team's 16-13 overtime loss to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, saying the young quarterback will remain the starter moving forward.

Kaepernick struggled to get San Francisco's offense going against the Rams, as the 49ers finished with just one offensive touchdown, on a 1-yard run by Frank Gore. Kaepernick finished the game with 208 yards on 21-of-32 passing with no touchdowns or interceptions. He also had nine rushes for 84 yards, including a 50-yard scamper in the fourth quarter. But he committed a costly fumble that was picked up by cornerback Janoris Jenkins and returned for a 2-yard touchdown.

With Kaepernick still at the helm, the 49ers will return home for a matchup against the Miami Dolphins next week.
