Once staring at a 3-6 record, the Redskins now control their own postseason destiny going into a Week 17 match-up against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the Cowboys' stunning 34-31 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon, the Redskins now hold a one-game lead over Dallas in the standings going into next week's game. The New York Giants are also in the mix at 8-6 entering this week, though the Redskins hold the tiebreaker over them in case both teams finish 10-6.
The Redskins haven’t won a division title since 1999 or even reached the postseason since 2007, so Sunday’s game against the Cowboys is arguably the franchise’s biggest in years.
Considering that Washington began this season with three wins in its first nine games, it's rather stunning to believe that the team has won six straight games to surge into the playoffs. It's especially incredible when it's added that the team's offense is led by a pair of rookies, quarterback Robert Griffin III and running back Alfred Morris.
