Garrett Hartley's short field goal in overtime was not enough to keep the New Orleans Saints alive in the playoff hunt, but it was enough to seriously damage the hopes of the Dallas Cowboys. With Minnesota's earlier win over Houston New Orleans saw their faint playoff hopes end, but with the loss Dallas is now a game behind Washington in the NFC East and several teams are ahead of them in the wild card hunt.
Saints vs. Cowboys, Week 16: Saints win in OT
The Saints were eliminated from the playoffs despite Sunday’s win.

SB Nation’s Canal Street Chronicles was still pleased with the win:
The Saints finished with 562 total offensive yards, the 5th most ever in franchise history. Marques Colston quietly racked up 153 yards and Darren Sproles added another 152 through both the ground and air.
New Orleans led by 14 points with less than three minutes to go but Tony Romo threw touchdown passes to Dwayne Harris and Miles Austin to tie the game. The final TD pass came with 15 seconds left, but Dallas could not capitalize on their possession in overtime.
Drew Brees had 446 yards passing and three touchdowns, putting him over 4,000 yards passing for the seventh straight season.
