Titans vs. Packers 2012: ‘Great showcase from the defense’ in Green Bay rout

Green Bay’s offense is getting all the accolades after a 55-7 thrashing of the Tennessee Titans, but don’t forget the great performance turned in by the defense.

The Green Bay Packers looked ready for the playoffs on Sunday, crushing the hapless Tennessee Titans, 55-7, at Lambeau Field. The offensive explosion was the most points put up by Green Bay since they put up the same number on Oct. 2, 1983 against the Buccaneers.

Tennessee's defense was completely emasculated by the Packer offense. Green Bay punted only three times en route to scoring 55 unanswered points. Aaron Rodgers threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns, and Green Bay rushed for four touchdowns as a team.

However, while the offensive outburst is getting all the attention, it was an impressive performance by the Packer defense as well. David Rantisi, recapping the game on the Acme Packing Company’s Youtube Channel, gives an overview of Green Bay’s defensive prowess

Hitting on the defense here for a second, Jake Locker was not comfortable all game long. They sacked him seven times, forced two interceptions, and he threw for under 150 yards. Great showcase from the defense, you couldn't really ask for much more. Chris Johnson was stuffed all game long.

Johnson was held to 28 yards on 11 carries, which will do the job pretty much every time.

Green Bay finishes the regular season at Minnesota. That game will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
