Andruw Jones arrested for battery

Five-time All-Star Andruw Jones was arrested on Christmas, getting booked by Gwinnett County police outside of Atlanta on a charge of battery.

Andruw Jones was arrested early Christmas morning for battery outside of Atlanta, as reported by Capitol Avenue Club.

Jones, a 17-year MLB veteran outfielder with 10 Gold Gloves and five All-Star appearances, was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department at around 3:50 a.m. The circumstances surrounding his arrest are unclear. The Curacao native had played the first 12 years of his career for the Braves.

Jones, now 35, was signed earlier in December to play for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League. He led the majors in 2005 with 51 home runs and hit 41 in 2006, but hasn't hit more than 20 since 2007. He also hasn't cleared a .250 batting average, hitting below .200 twice. He'd spent the last two seasons as a platoon outfielder with the New York Yankees, hitting .197 in 2012 after being forced into playing time thanks to an injury to Brett Gardner before the team acquired Ichiro Suzuki.
