The Bengals have placed cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve and claimed wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher off waivers. The team lists Kirkpatrick's inury as knee-related, but their 2012 first-round pick had been out with a concussion suffered in Week 13 against the Chargers.
Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick placed on IR
The oft-injured corner hasn’t played since Dec. 2 against San Diego.

Knee injuries have been a problem for the former Alabama standout since he entered the league. Kirkpatrick missed the first seven weeks of the season with a knee injury and returned to play just five games before suffering the concussion. The knee problems appear to have returned, with the rookie set to miss the rest of the season.
Sanzenbacher, claimed off waivers from the Bears, has local ties. The Toledo native played four seasons for Ohio State, catching 121 balls for nearly 2,000 yards in his collegiate career. After signing with Chicago as an undrafted free agent, Sanzenbacher caught 27 passes in 2011 and scored three touchdowns. But with new additions to the Bears receiving corps, the former Buckeye lost his place on the field and eventually on the roster.
