No matter what, one team had to have its 11-game win streak snapped on Christmas Day. Coming into Tuesday night’s game, No. 17 San Diego State and No. 3 Arizona were both on 11-game win streaks. Extending the win streak to 12 came down to one point. Arizona had that one point, beating SDSU, 68-67.

In Hawaii, No. 3 Arizona and No. 17 San Diego State took to the court in the final round of the Diamondhead Classic. One team would extend its win streak to 12 straight and have a truly mele kalikimaka.


Solomon Hill led Arizona in scoring with 21 points. Hill was 7-for-15 from the field and added six rebounds. Kevin Parrom contributed 17 points and five rebounds from the bench. Parrom was 3-of-5 from the three-point line. Off the bench, Grant Jerrett led the Wildcats in rebounding with six grabs.
Jamaal Franklin picked up eight rebounds, six assists and nine points for the Aztecs. Chase Tapley led the Aztecs with 19 points. As a team, SDSU hit 83 percent of its free throws to Arizona's 70 percent.
The Wildcats are now 12-0 on the season. ‘Zona handed SDSU its second loss, taking the Aztecs’ record to 11-2. The first loss was the first game of the season, against Syracuse.
