Florida’s Matt Patchan transferring, likely to Ohio State or Boston College

The redshirt junior offensive tackle may be reunited with his old coach, Urban Meyer.

USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Gators continue to lose players due to transfer, as The Gainesville Sun is reporting that redshirt junior offensive tackle Matt Patchan is on his way out. The report states that he is most likely on his way to either Ohio State or Boston College.

Patchan has started in eight games during his career at Florida and has appeared in 27 games total.

He has battled injuries through much of his collegiate career, as he had to miss the entire 2010 season due to an injury. He started seven games during the 2011 season but another injury ended his season prematurely. He has yet to dress for a game in 2012.

Patchan may be heading to Ohio State to reunite with the coach that recruited him to Florida, Urban Meyer. Steve Addazio, the head coach of Boston College, was his position coach under Meyer at UF.

Since Patchan will be a graduate student, he will not have to sit out a year and has one year of eligibility left.
