Almost as soon as the Nets fired Avery Johnson on Thursday, online speculation turned to Stan Van Gundy, the former Magic head coach whose been linked to almost every open job in the NBA.
Stan Van Gundy has ‘no interest’ in Nets’ coaching job, according to report
For the time being, it appears the former Orlando coach isn’t interested in replacing Avery Johnson.
However, according to a report from Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel, Van Gundy isn’t interested:

While all such reports need to be taken with a huge grain of salt, Schmitz is presumably well connected with Van Gundy’s camp from his time covering the Magic.
Van Gundy recently began working as a college basketball analyst for NBC Sports, and there’s always a chance he catches the broadcasting bug like his brother Jeff, who seems firmly ensconced in his role as the head NBA analyst for ABC.
However, with high expectations and mediocre results in Brooklyn so far, perhaps it’s merely a matter of Van Gundy wanting to put himself in the best position to succeed when he does return to the NBA.
P.J. Carlesimo is currently serving as the interim head coach after Johnson’s firing and there’s no timetable as to when a permanent replacement will be named.
