Phil Jackson will be Nets’ top coaching target, according to report

The Zen Master remains in high demand despite his reported disinterest.

The Brooklyn Nets have pegged NBA coaching legend Phil Jackson as the organization's top target to replace Avery Johnson, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein and Chris Broussard.

Despite reports of Jackson’s agent telling NBA reporter David Aldridge that his client is not interested in coaching Brooklyn, the Nets still seem intent of making a serious run for his services.

A source told the ESPN duo that Jackson would indeed "entertain an approach from Brooklyn," and that discussing a third stint with the L.A. Lakers after Mike Brown's firing got the coach thinking about returning to the game. Whatever money and control issues that came between Jackson and the Lakers during those discussions would reportedly not be an issue in Brooklyn, according to the report.

Jackson, 67, last coached on May 8, 2011 before retiring for a second time from the Lakers. In 20 seasons of coaching, Jackson has won 11 NBA championships and has amassed a regular-season record of 1,155-485.
