Once the dust cleared on Sunday the Cincinnati Bengals were back in the AFC playoff hunt and even alive in the AFC North. The Bengals, who have now won four in a row, moved to 7-5 on Sunday with a win over the Chargers. Cincinnati is now tied with the Steelers for the sixth and final playoff spot in the AFC according to Cincy Jungle:
Bengals vs. Chargers 2012: Cincinnati takes fourth straight
The Bengals are back in the playoff hunt.
This game against the Chargers felt more four-game losing streak than three-game winning streak. Mental mistakes, stupid errors, missed assignments, heads bowed to the ground, touchdowns missed, terrible body language, if this were any other season and any other roster, San Diego shoves a game-tying touchdown down Cincinnati’s throat. It wouldn’t be the first time San Diego has done that to the Bengals.
The Steelers still hold the tiebreaker based on their win in Cincinnati earlier this season, but the Bengals still have one game left against Pittsburgh to reverse that result. Both teams are two games behind the Baltimore Ravens, who missed a chance to take full control of the AFC with by losing to Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Indianapolis now holds the No. 5 playoff seed and first Wild Card spot after the Colts' comeback win in Detroit on Sunday. Buffalo, Miami, and the Jets at 5-7 are the only other teams with realistic chances of catching Cincinnati, so Indianapolis and Pittsburgh are the main competition for the Bengals.
