Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 weigh-in photos: Marquez massive compared to Mayweather fight

A look at the change in Juan Manuel Marquez’s body from his 2009 fight with Floyd Mayweather to his weigh-in tonight for the fourth fight with Manny Pacquiao.

One of the reasons many doubted Juan Manuel Marquez’s chances in his third meeting with Manny Pacquiao was how Marquez had looked the last time he’d gone up to welterweight. For that fight, an unusually listless performance for the Mexican legend, Marquez looked somewhat “doughy.” Clearly not a fighter with a welterweight’s body.

Here’s how he looked on the scales before the Mayweather fight, a fight where he weighed in at 142 pounds:

Marquez came into the Pacquiao fight last year looking much better at the weight and putting on a great performance, one that the majority of media and fans seem to think he won.

While part of the improved performance is that Marquez has a long history and strong familiarity with Manny, his body also looked much better at the then 144 pound limit.

And here is how Marquez looked tonight as he weighed in for the fourth time he will face Pacquiao, this time coming in at 143:

That’s quite the change in a guy who is now two-and-a-half years older and 39. There’s nothing saying he can’t have improved his body naturally, but it’s not exactly impossible to see where Freddie Roach was coming from when he accused Marquez’s camp of PED use.

Then again, Roach’s guy, who came up from the lowest weights in boxing, looked like this on the scales:
