Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver indicated that he is willing to take less money if that's what's needed for him to be in a Packer uniform next year. It would be his fourteenth season with the club. He's scheduled to receive a $2.2 million roster bonus next month, and would be a $5 million hit to the Packers' salary cap next season if they brought him back under his current deal.

But Driver indicated that he’s willing to take less if it means staying in Green Bay. The Packers have the reigning MVP at quarterback and are currently the favorites to win the 2013 Super Bowl. This, along with his long-standing relationship with the organization and its fan base, are just some of the motivating reasons to take less money. Driver articulated as much speaking at a Boy Scouts function in Milwaukee.
“The organization knows what I’ve done on and off the field, and they want to keep me around as long as possible,” Driver told WISN TV. “If that means sitting down and taking pay cuts to stay around, then you take pay cuts to stay around. I’ve always said it’s not about the money for me anymore.
“What I’m pushing for is for my legacy to stay around in the state of Wisconsin and around the world forever. So the money’s not a big issue.”
Last season, Driver had just 37 catches for 445 yards, his lowest production in a decade. The aging receiver still provides a veteran presence in one of the league’s best pass-catching corps, and Packer fans have to be encouraged that he’s willing to take less to finish out his career in Green Bay.
