Things are getting ugly in Salt Lake City, as Utah Jazz CEO and owner Greg Miller published a long post to his personal blog responding to Karl Malone's criticism of the organization this week. Malone criticized the Jazz for how they handled Jerry Sloan's exit last year, and also alleged that he personally had to scalp tickets to Utah games.
Jazz Owner Greg Miller Rips Karl Malone
Miller first reacted on Twitter and accused Malone of lying. But then, he took it up a notch on his blog, expanding just a bit beyond 140 characters.
It’s a lengthy post that details years of what Miller thinks were unbecoming and unprofessional slights towards the Salt Lake City community, the Jazz, and his family. He discusses missed autograph sessions, disputes about car dealerships, and blown-off lunch meetings. All the gripes lead to Miller’s final conclusion, in which he states Malone is too unreliable and unstable to be a part of his organization.
These are just a few experiences I’ve had with Karl that clearly demonstrate that he can’t be counted on. I am not willing to invite the elements of unreliability and instability into the Jazz organization. It would obviously do more harm than good.
As you can imagine, this contretemps between the owner and the franchise’s greatest player have caused quite a stir in Salt Lake. SLCDunk has a post up chronicling the events and trying to make sense of it all, from Sloan’s exit to now Miller’s ranting response to Malone.
