Home is where the wins are for the Winnipeg Jets.

A season-high eight-game homestand ended Monday in victory as the Jets held off the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 in a game with Eastern Conference Playoffs implications.

Andrew Ladd, Blake Wheeler and Chris Thorburn scored for Winnipeg, who finished their extended stay at MTS Centre with points in seven of the eight games (5-1-2). The win prevented Buffalo from entering the playoff picture for the first time since before Christmas and gave Winnipeg some breathing room with a three-point lead over the Washington Capitals for the eighth and final spot.

The Jets head back out on the road for the first time since February 16 Thursday against the Vancouver Canucks and Friday against the Calgary Flames. Winnipeg has given themselves some room to work with because of a successful homestand. Whether or not they can keep it up on the road remains to be seen.
