Wednesday afternoon, Justin Verlander became the second pitcher in MLB history to throw eight scoreless innings in each of his first two outings, yet fail to record a win.

The first was Twins right-hander Pete Redfern in 1980.

↵Redfern finished that season 7-7 with a 4.56 ERA.

↵So, now we know what Verlander’s going to do this season.
