SB Nation’s Blazers blog Blazers Edge posts a must-read investigative piece on how the team handled Greg Oden’s injury situation. The basis of the investigation comes from a professional sports kinesiologist who was hired by the Blazers to look at Oden’s health. He claims he was blown off by the team when he tried to warn them of the severity of Oden’s injuries.
Former Blazers Consultant Claims Team Messed Up Greg Oden’s Injury Treatment
The most striking allegation: Blazers officials laughing at him when he told them in 2008 that Oden would have a “major” injury in the next 12-15 months. Sure enough, he did, and here we are.
Of course, it’s worth noting that the man that is giving this account, Zig Ziegler, was arrested in January for securities fraud dating back to 2007. The Blazers still hired him anyway to help with Oden, which of course raises even more questions about the organization.
All in all, it’s an unflattering piece towards all involved that is worth reading.
