Boston Marathon 2012: Live Coverage, Stream Online, And More!
↵It’s Patriots’ Day in New England (a holiday commemorating the anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War -- read a book), which means the Red Sox will play at 11 a.m., and some 26,000 people will run from Hopkinton to Boston. The 2012 Boston Marathon, the 116th running of the world’s most famous race, is under way, as athletes make their way on the 26.2-mile course to the finish line on Boylston Street.
↵The temperatures are dangerously hot -- it’s already 78 degrees, with highs expected to reach into the upper-80s -- so much so that the Boston Athletic Association encouraged runners to defer their entries to 2013. Early on, the pace in the women’s race is slower than last year, which is to be expected, but we’ve already seen a record in the men’s push rim wheelchair race, with Josh Cassidy winning in 1:18:25, so perhaps the heat won’t have as big of an impact on the elites.
