According to his baseball-reference page, Livan Hernandez of the Atlanta Braves has made over $51 million playing baseball in the major leagues.

Somehow, he’s gotten himself into enough financial trouble that a court has ordered his wages garnished:

Hernandez owes SunTrust Bank $469,387.22 from a line of credit and promissory note, according to a summary judgment entered against him in October.

That's not the only financial entanglement the former Nationals pitcher has gotten himself into; a home he owned in Florida was auctioned for a fraction of its value.

Hernandez was in spring training this year with the Astros, but was let go late in camp and picked up by the Braves, who are paying him $750,000. The summary judgment would amount to more than half of that salary. Here's more on who he owes the money to and why, and also:

Hernandez, 36, is the target of a Federal money-laundering investigation in connection with the case, where he’s suspected of being a straw-buyer for Ayala Vazquez.Vazquez, according to the link, is a “Puerto Rican drug lord.” Sounds like it might be a while before Hernandez is out of trouble.
