On May 1, George Mason and VCU will be leaving the Colonial Athletic Association to join the Atlantic 10 Conference. This according to Lenn Robbins of the New York Post.
Report: VCU And George Mason To Join Atlantic 10 On May 1
Robbins added that Butler will “probably” be joining the conference as well. The Bulldogs are currently a member of the Horizon League.
George Mason and VCU to the A-10 on May 1…Butler probably…The Post has learned

This report comes less than a month after both VCU and George Mason vehemently denied that they had been in talks with the A-10.
If the report is true, adding the two perennial Colonial powerhouses would greatly bolster the strength of the A-10. The CAA, meanwhile, would unquestionably lose any claim it may have had on the title of best mid-major conference in college basketball.
