For the second time in less than a month, officials at Virginia Commonwealth are denying a report that the Rams are making the jump from the Colonial Athletic Association to the Atlantic 10 Conference.
VCU Officials Deny Report Of Move To The Atlantic 10
Earlier on Friday, Lenn Robbins of the New York Post tweeted that both VCU and George Mason would be joining the Atlantic 10 on May 1. Robbins later tweeted that while CAA officials were denying the report, "administrators in the A-10 and other East conferences say it’s a go."
When reached for comment, however, VCU officials told CBS 6 in Richmond that they “flatly deny” the report of a move to the A-10. Officials with the A-10 also told the news channel that there was “no truth” to the report.
VCU officials offered a similar denial on March 27 after CBSSports.com ran a story saying that the Rams, George Mason and Butler had all been in talks with the A-10 about switching conferences.
“All of this speculation is Internet chatter,” a source at VCU said at the time.
