Cliff Lee Injury: Phillies Ace Sent To Disabled List With Oblique Strain

One of the Phillies’ aces is dealt a setback: Cliff Lee is headed to the disabled list with an oblique injury.

Cliff Lee has been stellar for the Philadelphia Phillies so far this season, but Philadelphia will now have to operate without one of its aces for the immediate future: Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer is one of the many scribes with the news that Lee has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 19 — or Thurdsay — with a left oblique strain.

What did Lee do on Wednesday, you ask? He threw 10 innings and earned a no-decision in what Al Yellon called “arguably the best start of 2012.” That might have contributed to the injury, but the Phillies haven’t provided specific details yet.

And with The Good Phight wondering if the Phillies’ 2012 offense is the franchise’s worst ever, losing Lee, even if only briefly, is probably not going to be conducive to the Phillies’ chances of winning games.
