When Allen Craig of the Cardinals underwent knee surgery last November, it was thought at the time that he'd be out of the St. Louis lineup until at least late May.
Allen Craig Returns To Cardinals Lineup, Weeks Early
Allen Craig had knee surgery last November, and is returning to the Cardinals’ lineup several weeks ahead of schedule.

It's just May 1, but Craig will be activated for Tuesday night's game against the Pirates. Derrick Goold:
General manager John Mozeliak said that if Craig exited his game Monday feeling healthy and strong, he’ll be placed on the 25-man roster for the Cardinals’ game tonight against Pittsburgh.
A corresponding roster move would be made before the game to make room for Craig. Manager Mike Matheny said Sunday that when he received “the green light medically,” he had room at first base for Craig.Looks like that green light has been given, as Craig has absolutely punished minor-league pitching during his rehab assignment: .357/.379/.679 with three home runs in 28 at-bats.
Craig will probably begin by taking over from Matt Carpenter at first base during Lance Berkman's DL stint, and after Berkman is back:
Craig will be part of a modified rotation at several positions. For more on the Cardinals, please visit Viva El Birdos and SB Nation St. Louis.
