The Anaheim Ducks announced the signing of head coach Bruce Boudreau to a two-year contract extension. Boudreau was fired by the Washington Capitals at the end of November and joined the Ducks organization two days later as their head coach. He had immediate success with the Ducks, who put together a playoff push after a miserable start to the season. The Ducks finished the season 27-23-8 with Boudreau behind the bench, and the club rewarded his success with the two-year extension.

Even though it took a while for the Ducks to adapt to Boudreau, he became a breath of fresh air that the team desperately needed. Boudreau brought an offense first system, but more importantly, a positive attitude. The team he inherited was broken on and off the ice. He managed to pull the guys together, get their confidence back, and make a very strong push for the playoffs, ultimately falling short.
