Everyone who is currently the newly anointed closer for a historic franchise raise your hand. Ah, ah, ah, not so fast, David Robertson. Turns out you're hurt. Which is probably why you were screaming in pain as you were raising your hand. Sorry about that.
David Robertson Has MRI On Sore Side
David Robertson might go on the disabled list with a ribcage injury.
Robertson took over for the injury Mariano Rivera earlier this month, converted his first save opportunity, blew his second, and then tweaked his side during a non-save appearance against the Mariners on May 11.
RHP David Robertson had a MRI on his left ribcage this morning in New York. Yankees are waiting on the results.

If it's an oblique injury, Robertson could be sidelined for several weeks. Luckily for the Yankees, they happen to have one of the most expensive relievers in baseball in middle relief, Rafael Soriano, and if you assume that salary correlates perfectly with performance, the team should be even better off in the ninth inning now. Soriano picked up the save on Monday night, and he should be the temporary closer for the temporary closer.
