Nick Blackburn To DL With Strained Quad; Ryan Doumit Day-To-Day

Earlier Thursday, a tweet from Scott Miller of CBS Sports indicated that Twins catcher/outfielder/DH Ryan Doumit was being placed on the disabled list with a calf strain.

I’m not linking that tweet here, because guess what? Doumit’s staying active and Nick Blackburn is being DL’d:

>Doumit had an MRI exam on Wednesday night, and the team said the results came back favorable. The Twins announced the move that Doumit was heading to the DL on Wednesday night, but the official move hadn’t been made.

Ben Revere has been recalled from Class AAA Rochester and will start in center field today.

With an open date Monday, the Twins won’t need a replacement for Blackburn until May 26, when the face the Tigers at Target Field.

Blackburn pitched just two innings against the Tigers Wednesday night and gave up six earned runs, ballooning his season ERA to 8.37, so maybe it’s just as well. Doumit, meantime, is “day-to-day”, as are we all.
