The Edmonton Oilers announced that they will not bring back head coach Tom Renney, who was behind the bench in Edmonton for two unremarkable seasons. Renney’s teams amassed a 57-85-22 record during his tenure with the Oilers.
Tom Renney’s Contract Will Not Be Renewed By Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers announced that they would not renew the contract of head coach Tom Renney.


The club made the announcement on its Twitter account, tweeting that general manager Steve Tambellini would not renew the coach’s contract. Via @NHL_Oilers:

The Oilers have some of the most promising young stars in the league, but finished with the second-worst record in the NHL in 2011-12, just one year after finishing last in the league. That was enough for Tambellini and the front office, who let Renney go and will now begin a search for the 11th coach in Oilers franchise history.
