Allen Craig was an underrated part of the Cardinals' World Series run in 2011. When Matt Holliday was out with an injury and/or a moth in his ear, Craig stepped in and hit just as well as Holliday might have. That shouldn't happen. And in 2012, he was off to an even better start, hitting .373/.424/.765 in 51 at-bats.
Allen Craig, Kyle McClellan Hit DL
The Cardinals lost a reliever and an outfielder on the same day, as Kyle McClellan and Allen Craig were both put on the disabled list on Friday.

Alas, though, his hamstrings are jerks:
Allen Craig (hamstring) & Kyle McClellan (elbow) have been placed on the DL. OF Adron Chambers & pitcher Brandon Dickson recalled from AAA.

With Carlos Beltran day-to-day with a knee injury and Jon Jay out with a sore shoulder, the Cardinals suddenly have a disabled-list outfield that's better than most of the outfields that will start around baseball tonight. Craig was seeing time in the middle of the Cardinals' lineup, especially against lefties.
Adron Chambers was hitting .308/.377/.391 in triple-A. He appeared in 18 games for the Cardinals last year.
Kyle McClellan appeared in 16 games out of the bullpen for the Cards, but he left Thursday's game against the Giants after injuring his elbow. Dickson appeared in four games for the Cardinals last year, and he had a 3.42 ERA for the Memphis Redbirds in eight starts.
