Diamondbacks’ Chris Young Comes Off Disabled List

Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young got off to a good start this season.

Wait. Not a good start. A great start. In his first 11 games, Young batted .410 with five home runs. He was on a pace to obliterate not only his own personal bests, but also Babe Ruth's and Barry Bonds's.

Alas, in his 11th game Young slammed into a wall, hurt his shoulder, and hasn’t played since.

In Young’s absence, the Diamondbacks have won 10 games and lost 18 games. Since it’s really hard to acquire a player as good as Chris Young in May (or June, or July), management must be thrilled with this news:

The Diamondbacks reinstated outfielder Chris Young Friday afternoon from the 15-day disabled list, and he is expected to join the team in Kansas City for tonight's game.

Also, the team optioned outfielder A.J. Pollock to Triple-A Reno.

Pollock's still a prospect, but didn't fare well during his stint with the big club. Gerardo Parra took over in center field while Young was out, and will resume his place -- once the Diamondbacks get through this round of interleague action -- as the club's fourth outfielder.

And Chris Young will resume his pursuit of Barry Bonds.
