Major League Baseball created the bereavement list for players who have a serious illness or death in their family and need to spend some time with family members during the season. Players can be on this list, usually for a minimum of three to a maximum of seven days.

Today, the Detroit Tigers put one of their players on this list:

Raburn has split time between right field, left field and second base this season for the Tigers and is not hitting well at all: .144/.213/.216 in 111 at-bats. Worth was earlier recalled when Delmon Young was on the restricted list; he went 3-for-17 in 12 games, but is hitting .306/.386/.556 in 72 at-bats for Triple-A Toledo.
