The Colorado Rockies are off to a rough start this season; they currently stand last in the NL West, 11 games under .500.
Rockies Place Ramon Hernandez On DL With Hand Problem
The Rockies’ starting catcher has had lingering tendinitis in his left hand, and now he’s going to rest it for at least 15 days.

Now, they have lost their starting catcher to injury. Troy Renck:
Ramon Hernandez had no issue playing through the tendinitis in his left hand. Pain is one thing. The lack of performance is another. Hernandez could not help the team offensively.
"It wasn’t fair to them or me. I don’t mind if I am getting outs and I am healthy. You have to deal with that. But I couldn’t compete," Hernandez said. "It’s frustrating. But I don’t feel like I can do anything up at the plate."
Recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace Hernandez is Wil Nieves, who has eight major-league seasons, mostly with the Nationals, though he spent 2011 with the Brewers. Nieves, who was hitting .299/.330/.448 in Triple-A, will split time with Wilin Rosario behind the plate, raising the question of whether the Rockies have any catchers whose name does not begin with "Wil."
