Of course they did. C'mon, that was your first instinct when you read that headline. Of course the San Diego Padres signed Jason Marquis to pitch in Petco Park. Of course they finally teamed him up with Jeff Suppan, and now the two of them can fight crime, or at least pitch without fear of every other pitch sailing over the fence.

The San Diego Padres agreed to terms with Jason Marquis according to Ken Rosenthal, the natural order of things.

Marquis signed a one-year, $3-million deal with the Twins in the offseason, but they released him after just seven starts. The 8.47 ERA up there included nine home runs in 34 innings, and Target Field isn't exactly the Baker Bowl when it comes to home runs.
Marquis did miss a lot of time in the spring while his daughter recovered from a bicycle accident, so it’s possible that the Padres just figured he was rusty, which was something that Petco Park could help fix. The Padres have had a miserable time with injuries this year, losing Tim Stauffer, Joe Weiland, and Cory Luebke for extended periods of time.
