Roy Halladay Leaves Phillies On ‘Personal Matter’, Will Return Friday

Roy Halladay has left the Phillies temporarily to tend to a “personal family matter.”

On Wednesday night, the Phillies' Roy Halladay gave up eight runs in five innings to the Atlanta Braves, culminated by a grand slam from Atlanta's Brian McCann. It was his second straight rough outing.

Thursday morning, it was announced that Halladay was temporarily leaving the team. The two events are not related. Jim Salisbury:

According to sources, Halladay is tending to a personal family issue. Sources say the pitcher is healthy.Not much to go on there, though the article says that Halladay left the clubhouse after talking to reporters “with a small suitcase in tow.” There’s no word on how long this leave will be or whether Halladay will miss any starts as a result. Undoubtedly, he’d like to forget about Wednesday night’s outing.
