St. Louis defenseman Alex Pietrangelo will play for the Blues in a crucial Game 3 in Los Angeles on Thursday night. Pietrangelo was injured in the first game of the series on Saturday when he was hit from behind by LA's Dwight King and went tumbling face first into the board behind the goal. He cut his chin and left the ice in the second period and did not return. The Blues then announced he was out for Game 2 with an "undisclosed injury," stemming from the hit from King.

King faced no disciplinary sanctions from the league and Brendan Shanahan, although the Blues' B.J. Crombeen did drop the gloves with him in Game 2. Pietrangelo's return will be a boost on the blue line for St. Louis, who cannot afford to fall into an 0-3 hole against the No. 8 seed Kings on their home ice.
