These days, when you hear about a player testing positive for a performance enhancer, it's usually some minor leaguer who's more or less off the radar. Guillermo Mota is not a minor leaguer, and he's not off the radar, and now he's been suspended for a positive test. It is going to be a very long suspension. Jon Morosi:

Mota’s suspension is for 100 games because it’s his second career violation. In 2006, Mota was suspended 50 games for testing positive for a performance enhancer, and he said:

"I have no one to blame but myself," Mota said in a statement that did not explain how he ran afoul of baseball's drug rules. "I take full responsibility for my actions and accept MLB's suspension. I used extremely poor judgment and deserve to be held accountable."

"To my teammates and the entire Mets organization, I am sorry. I truly regret what I did and hope that you can forgive me. To baseball fans everywhere, I understand that you are disappointed in me, and I don't blame you. I feel terrible and I promise this is the first and last time that this will happen. I am determined to prove to you that this was one mistake."

The 38-year-old righty reliever has made nine appearances this season out of the Giants' bullpen. It's his third year with the Giants, and the 14th year of his career. Mota owns a lifetime 105 ERA+ and now has two more PED suspensions than starts. (Guillermo Mota has zero career starts. You figured that out.)
