Jhoulys Chacin was one of the Rockies' best starters in 2011, posting a 3.62 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, and an ERA+ of 125.

This year, though, he was off to a poor start, with a 7.30 ERA and NL-leading seven home runs allowed in five starts.

The Rockies were going to option him to Triple-A Colorado Springs to work through his troubles, but it turns out it was more than just a rough start. Troy Renck:

Struggling right-hander Jhoulys Chacin landed on the disabled list Monday with shoulder inflammation, delaying his return to the Rockies by weeks.
General manager Dan O’Dowd said Chacin needs to get healthy and iron out some confidence issues before beginning a rehab assignment.
The right-hander was originally optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday night, but that will be rescinded now that he’s on the DL.
“We’re still working through his issues and trying to get our arms around everything before we move forward,” O’Dowd said.

Renck reports that Alex White, who was acquired by the Rockies from the Indians last summer in the Ubaldo Jimenez deal, will take Chacin's place in the rotation.

Also, I’m thankful I only had to type “Jhoulys” twice in this article, and one of them was for this sentence.
