Cliff Lee Off DL, Starting Wednesday
The lefty threw a lengthy bullpen session Saturday morning at Nationals Park, and pronounced himself fit and ready to return to the Phillies' rotation on Wednesday. He has been on the disabled list since April 19 with a strained left oblique."Everything is normal," Lee said.
To make room for Lee, the Phillies optioned reliever Michael Schwimer, who walked five batters in six innings. Cliff Lee walked 18 batters in 212 innings in 2010. There's never a good reason not to bring that up.
Lee was 0-1 with a 1.96 ERA before going on the DL, which is an easy way to describe the Phillies’ season so far. The start before Lee was hurt, he pitched 10 scoreless innings in one of the best starts in baseball this year.
