Troy Tulowitzki Starts Rehab Assignment

The Rockies have been without shortstop Troy Tulowitzki since the end of May due to a groin injury.

Fortunately for the team, “Tulo” is on his way back. He’s going to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Colorado Springs. Troy Renck:

Tulowitzki is eligible to come off the disabled list Friday, but Sunday or Tuesday are more realistic dates.
Tulowitzki is expected to remain with the Sky Sox, playing Thursday and likely Friday in Las Vegas. That would leave him in position to return to the big leagues either in Detroit or possibly Tuesday in Philadelphia when the Rockies open a three-game series there.
“I feel really good,” said Tulowitzki, who has hit in batting practice and fielded groundballs with no issues.

The Rockies were having a rough year even with Tulo in the lineup, but they are (so far) 4-7 without him. He is currently leading in NL All-Star voting for shortstops, in a close race with the CardinalsRafael Furcal, so if he returns and plays well, Rockies fans will at least have that to cheer for.
