John Danks Injury Is Shoulder Tendon Tear

John Danks hasn’t started a game for the White Sox since May 19, as he’s been on the disabled list with shoulder discomfort. At first, he had a chance of making it back in the minimum. Then he needed a brief rehab assignment. Then he revealed he was still feeling some shoulder discomfort. Danks got himself examined, and now here we are. Scott Merkin:

Danks told the media that he had been diagnosed with a Grade 1 subscapularis tendon tear in his left shoulder, a conclusion reached after he underwent a pair of MRIs on Monday, including one where dye was injected into his left shoulder. The southpaw also was examined by team physician Dr. Gregory Nicholson.

After finding out the diagnosis, Danks said that he was assured by Dr. Nicholson surgery wouldn’t be necessary.

Danks is still feeling shoulder discomfort because he has a tear in his shoulder. The good news for him and the White Sox is that he won’t need to go under the knife, but this is obviously a setback. There’s presently no timetable for his return. Rotoworld guesses that Danks is out until at least just after the All-Star break, and, there, now if Danks is somehow back before the All-Star break, it’s Rotoworld who lied to you, not me.
