The Oakland Athletics' moribund 2012 season has not been easy for fans to watch, but one piece of good news should make them slightly more watchable: Oakland activated ace Brandon McCarthy from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.
A’s Activate Brandon McCarthy From 15-Day DL
Brandon McCarthy is returning to Oakland’s rotation after a stint on the disabled list.

McCarthy was placed on the disabled list on May 20 (retroactive to May 18), with a shoulder injury that was likely sustained on a attempt to catch a bunt by Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus.
McCarthy is just 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA in nine starts in 2012, but he was the Athletics’ Opening Day starter, and bolsters a rotation that has been fantastic despite Oakland’s struggles throughout the season. The A’s have been mired in the cellar of the AL West with Seattle, but boast a 3.67 ERA as a team, good for fourth in the American League ... and third in the division.
