Yes, there's been a flurry of no-hitters this season: three already, including the first no-hitter in New York Mets history.

But three no-hitters in two months isn’t crazy; it’s merely unusual.

It might become crazy if Jarrod Parker no-hits the Texas Rangers tonight, though, and he's two-thirds of the way there.

He's got a nice cushion, too. Parker's A's scored eight runs in the second inning and two more in the fifth, so took a 10-0 lead into the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth, Parker kept his no-hit bid alive by retiring David Murphy on a pop foul, Mike Napoli on a grounder to third base, and Mitch Moreland on a swinging strikeout.

Parker has issued a couple of walks, and thrown 91 pitches already. Which would seem to make a complete game unlikely, unless he’s exceptionally economical in the seventh or eighth inning.

Parker, who came to the A's in an off-season trade with the Diamondbacks, entered this start with a 2.88 ERA. No-hitter or no, he's only going to improve his already considerable stock with tonight's outing.
