Belmont Stakes 2012: Post Time, TV Schedule, Live Coverage And More

The Belmont Stakes will be run Saturday afternoon, but the wind has been taken out of the sails a bit with the shocking news of I’ll Have Another’s sudden retirement due to a leg injury. The race will still go on, obviously, but it won’t have as much weight or interest as it would have without the favorite being scratched.
The colt was going for the vaunted Triple Crown, which was last won 34 years ago when Affirmed bested Alydar three times in 1978. Without I’ll Have Another, horses like Dullahan and Optimizer will no longer simply try to play spoiler, but will now be looking to take the race.
