Royals’ Felipe Paulino Going On DL

There hasn't been much to like about the Kansas City Royals' starting pitching this season. But since coming off a season-opening stint on the Disabled List, right-hander Felipe Paulino posted a 1.67 ERA in seven starts.

So now, of course, Paulino's going back on the DL. Last Wednesday, Paulino exited his start against the Twins in the first inning, with a groin injury. He's not progressed much since then, so he's been placed on the 15-day Disabled List. Right-hander Nate Adcock has been summoned from the minors -- this will be his fourth stint with the big club already this season -- and Luis Mendoza will take Paulino's place in the rotation, beginning Tuesday against the Brewers.

Paulino's loss leaves the Royals with seven players on the 15-day DL and three on the 60-day list. His loss also leave Bruce Chen as the undisputed "ace" of the Kansas City rotation, with no other contender in sight.
