Mets Righthander Dillon Gee Placed On Disabled List

It’s one thing when a pitcher hurts a ligament or tendon in his elbow or shoulder; doctors usually know what to do, whether it’s surgery or rest, and the pitcher has a generally-known period of rehab time.

That might not be the case for Mets starter Dillon Gee. The Mets’ flagship channel SNY reports:

Dillon Gee will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a clot in the artery in his right shoulder, the team announced.
In a press release, the Mets said doctors at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital used a catheter to break up the clot, and will remain hospitalized for the next couple of days to ensure the issue is completely resolved. It sounds less serious than originally reported, but it’s still uncertain what caused this or what future effects it might have. No corresponding roster move has yet been announced, but SB Nation’s Mets site Amazin’ Avenue reports that it could be a recall of prospect Matt Harvey.
