Houston Astros shortstop Jed Lowrie had to leave Saturday's game after he suffered an injury on a force play at second base.

The injury occurred in the third inning of the Astros game against the Giants. With the game tied, Melky Cabrera grounded a ball back up the middle. Lowrie went to cover second base and as he reached for the throw from Jose Altuve, the Giants Gregor Blanco slid into Lowrie's ankle.

Lowrie immediately appeared to be in pain as the ball got away. After hopping on one foot, Lowrie went down to his hands and knees. He was checked out by an Astros team trainer before being helped off the field.

The shortstop is hitting .253 in his first season with the Astros and has already reached a career high in home runs with 14.
