The Atlanta Braves added some infield depth on Saturday when they acquired Paul Janish from the Cincinnati Reds. In exchange, the Braves sent Triple-A starting pitcher Todd Redmond to the Reds.

Janish has spent the 2012 season playing in Triple-A, but has played in 324 Major League games. He could factor in at shortstop for the Braves, who are still waiting for Andrelton Simmons to return from the disabled list. In 872 MLB at bats, Janish has a career batting average of .221. He's hitting .237 in 169 at bats in Triple-A this season.

The 27-year-old Redmond has yet to appear in a MLB game. He’s started 18 games this season in Triple-A, posting a 6-6 record with a 3.58 ERA. He went 10-8 with a 2.92 ERA in 28 Triple-A games last season.
