Hardreck Walker Commits To Texas A&M Aggies

Back in April, it was all A&M for a big defensive tackle from Houston. The commitment didn’t go down then, but when it did Sunday, he was still all A&M.

The Texas A&M Aggies added another prospect to what is already a strong group of defensive tackles in the 2013 class when Houston (TX) Westfield defensive tackle Hardreck Walker committed to the Aggies on KPRC, the Houston NBC affiliate.

“It was real hard picking one school exactly -- every school was great. One school stood out to me, when I went down there it felt so right, so in 2013 I will be playing at Texas A&M University,” said Walker during his announcement.

“I love Coach Sumlin. I feel like he has the program headed in the right direction. This jump to the SEC is going to be big for them and I feel like I can help them bring back the Wrecking Crew,” revealed the Westfield product.

Was it a coincidence that Walker announced on the day that A&M made the move to the SEC official? “Perfect timing,” Walker acknowledged with a wide grin.

A four-star prospect by Rivals and Scout, 247Sports considers the 6-2, 280-pound Westfield prospect a three-star recruit. With offers from 14 different schools, Walker revealed a top six on Wednesday of Arkansas, Missouri, Northwestern, OU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Now the 23rd commitment n 2013 class for new head coach Kevin Sumlin, Walker is the third defensive tackle pledge for the Aggies, who already had Carthage (TX)‘s Isaiah Golden and Dallas (TX) Skyline’s Kerrick Huggins in the fold.

The Aggies received the last say with Walker, who visited in the early part of June after taking in a camp at Texas the previous week. He had planned on making a decision during the spring, but put it off when interest increased, including an offer from the Oklahoma Sooners.

Back in April, it was A&M that nearly received his commitment and on Sunday evening, the Aggies finally received the long-awaited pledge.
