Dodgers Activate Chad Billingsley From DL

The four-day All-Star break has allowed teams to give starting pitchers who have minor injuries a bit more rest without having them miss too many starts. The White Sox did this with Gavin Floyd, and now the Dodgers have done it with Chad Billingsley, who was DL’d a week ago, retroactive to July 8, the day after his last start.

Monday, he’s returning. Eric Stephen at True Blue LA:

The Dodgers activated Chad Billingsley from the 15-day disabled list on Monday, as expected, in order for him to start the series opener in St. Louis against the Cardinals. Monday was the first day Billingsley was eligible to return from the disabled list, as he last started on July 7 in Arizona.

Billingsley was scratched from his start on July 15 amid elbow soreness but thanks to the timing of the All-Star break the right-hander missed just one start.

Stephen Fife took the one start that Billingsley missed, but Josh Wall is the odd-man out; Wall has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque, just one day after he made his major-league debut.
